In today’s Wellness Minute Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy explain how to pick out and cook chicken in a safer manner. Consumer Reports recently said that 2 out 3 chickens they tested were contaminated with some bacteria. They said even organic chickens were contaminated but at a lesser rate. So when you are buying a chicken at the store make sure you put it immediately into one of those plastic bags to prevent any bacteria from moving from the chicken onto any of your other food items, especially unbagged veggies and fruits. Also make sure the bag your chicken is in is sealed properly . Also it is probably a good idea to pick out your chicken at the end of your grocery shopping rather than the beginning – so it stays as cool as possible for as long as possible.
