We haven’t updated our SobeFit magazine Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy Weight Loss Challenge in awhile because I think it’s over – we did not lose 50 pounds combined – we lost over 30 pounds combined which isn’t too shabby. On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy had on Heather Harvey creator of the Measure Up Bowl. Heather shared her story about how she created this innovative weight loss product. She had gained some weight during her pregnancy that she was having trouble getting rid of. So a nutrition coach suggested she should measure and weight the foods that she ate. So Heather figured out a clever way to measure foods you put into bowls. And by the way, she lost about 80 pounds. The Measure Up bowl is one of those product that once you see it you think, why didn’t I think of that – it is so obvious. The Measure up Bowl has subtle lines telling you how much you are putting into each bowl in quarter and half cup increments. You will not find a better product to control your portion sizes. Especially with cereal. Heather did a great job with the design and quality. These bowls are dishwasher and microwave safe. In today’s Wellness Minute Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy share Dr Fitness’ favorite recipe for Edamame Soup. Somehow the Fat Guy missed the memo that the edamame bean is really just a soy bean. But give it some exotic Asian name and you can charge more for it at restaurants. Well the edamame /soy bean is packed with nutrients, proteins and omega 3 fats. It even has calcium and other essential vitamins as well. So an easy way to add some of this healthy goodness into your diet is to make a soup out of them. Make up some vegetable broth, throw in some shelled edamames, some ginger and more of your favorite spices and veggies and you’ve got yourself a hearty healthy meal. There is little scientific evidence to support the use of magnets to help with pain relief or help with arthritis pain. Lots of anecdotal evidence to support it though. Suzanne explained how she went from being on death’s door to transforming her body into a size 4. Her use of therapeutic exercises help her clients regain movement, balance and strength that they might have lost over the years. Suzanne has an occupational therapy background and has used that to created a fitness show that helps people do all the stuff they need to do every day.
