In today’s Wellness Minute Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy explain how to choose the right fitness program for you. Choosing an exercise program that fits is a little tricky. Most people don’t think much about it and just join a gym or they buy a treadmill. It is much better to choose an activity that you like to do rather than doing something that you think will whip you into shape. If you don’t really like to attend spin classes then you will probably quit at the first schedule conflict. So first get a doctor to check you out physically to get their blessing. Then pick something that requires you to move and fits your age and health. And don’t jump right in -check it out first – go to a class or take the exercise equipment for a test drive. Once you decide you like it then go for it. Listen right now to hear Dr Fitness’ tips. one of our past guests the Vibram Five Fingers shoe. John has had some fott problems and he feels these shoes help him get back on the road running again. John gave us the inside scoop to one of Dr Fitness’ favorite gadgets from Apple and Nike. He has been using the Nike Plus for about a month to track his runs. But he doesn’t like to listen to music when he runs so be bought a wrist band that tracks his runs instead of his iPod. John said you don’t even have to buy Nike shoes to use this device you can just get a velcro pouch and put the little monitoring thingy into and put it on any shoe. John also told us about a new Garmin product that features a virtual racer who races you on your watch. To learn more about all things gadgets go to

Marta’s Montenegro Method has helped us lose over 20 lbs so far. As always she gave us some great weight loss advice and support. She explained that by making small changes and sticking with them until they become a habit before moving onto the next change will help us stay compliant and stick to our plan longer. She said that if we have reached a plateau we should change up our routine. That means we should increase the intensity or duration of our workouts or decrease the number of calories we are eating. She said it is not okay to binge on the weekends, if we are getting tired of eating the same thing day after day we should change up the foods but not increase the calories. She explained the importance of pre-planning. By always having a healthy snack with you you can resist the urge to go through a drive through or raid the vending machine. And at restaurants choose the healthy option and avoid the creamy soups or salad dressing. Subscribe to the best fitness magazine in America at
