The Healthcare Performance Management Instititute (HPMI) is a research and education organization dedicated to promoting the use of business technology and management principles that assist employers in controlling their healthcare costs. HPMI provides C-level executives with visibility and control over company healthcare benefits spending trends and risk management postures, while protecting individual employee privacy.

We interviewed George Pantos, Executive Director of HPMI. George has over 30 years experience as an attorney and association manager specializing in employee benefits, self-insurance and captive insurance for corporations and associations. On the show George, outlined HPMI’s business strategy that incorporates technology to assist employers in tackling their healthcare challenges in much the same way as dealing with their other business operations. Rebecca Flick and Lorraine ChilversListen as Rebecca Flick, former Vice President and Treasurer of Home Depot,  tells the CFOradio audience why “Cash is king and queen” in today’s economy.  Rebecca explains how cash is the proxy for evaluating shareholder value and how running a business on cash is fundamental to increasing shareholder equity.  Ms. Flick also traces her experience as a former assistant vice president of credit products for Bank of America, and describes the differences in experiences between being a corporate treasurer and a banker.

Having closed approximately 35 acquisitions in 3-4 years, also gave Rebecca some unique insight into the corporate treasurer function. “Often, the lead financial roles in a corporation are referred to as the ones who readily say, ‘No.’  ” Rebecca dispels that myth and tells us how she was able to work with problems and issues to produce successful outcomes. Mark WhiteMark White, Chief Financial Officer of SAP North America, joins CFOradio.com to share his perspective on the role of the CFO in a global corporation that fosters and facilitates the innovative and entrepreneurial spirit of global businesses. 

Mark joined SAP in 2002 and has held a number of positions with the company including chief operating officer (COO) of Business Operations for SAP Americas. In his role as COO, Mark was responsible for the company’s shared services organizations, including Value Engineering, Solution Engineering, Industry Solutions, and Sales Operations. In his role as CFO for the Americas region reporting directly to the CFO of SAP AG, Werner Brandt, Mark was instrumental in leading SAP Americas’ transformation over a five-year period, resulting in revenue growth and an increase in operating margin rate. During this period, Mark implemented a robust risk management process and led the company’s compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley. Mark was responsible for all financial, legal, real estate, Americas government relations, and contracts, while leading the transition team in the Americas for acquisition integration.

Tino Mantella joined TAG in September 2004 as the organization’s new President. Eric has held roles such as President, CIO and other senior executive positions in various IT and high tech companies from venture-backed to Fortune 15 companies such as Patient Placement Systems, McKesson Corporation, Harbinger and 1stAg Corporation.  Eric has provided various expertise roles such as marketing, product development, operations, product management, business development, market research & market communications.

Eric is on the board of the Atlanta Technology Executives Roundtable and is a member of the National Association for the Support of Long-term Care.  He is active in the healthcare, electronic commerce and Internet industries as an author, speaker and contributor for such organizations as the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives, the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Georgia Association of Hospital Executives, the  Data Interchange Standards Association, the Electronic Messaging Association, the Treasury Management Association and the eBusiness Conference. Eric  has an MBA from the Goizueta Business School at Emory where he was a Robert Woodruff Fellow and a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma business honor society.
