If you think the new cigarette labels that are coming out are little crazy wait until you hear about the new sunscreen labels. Next summer you won’t be greeted with sunscreen labels with gross pictures of skin cancer victims or disfiguring  sunburns – but the labels on your favorite bottle of sunscreen will be changing. The confusing spf system will be going away and you won’t see anymore sunscreens labelled waterproof or sweatproof. Those claims have been too difficult to really stand by. It’s great fun to be outdoors and enjoy the warm weather but please protect yourself from too much exposure to the sun. Wear protective clothes and hats. And when you do use sunscreen use a lot and reapply throughout the time you’re outside.

 Georgia Tanner, ASP®

Georgia owns House to Home Staging, LLC and has been an Accredited Staging Professional for 3 years, after training under Barb Schwarz, who is the force and creator behind the whole concept and practice of Home Staging®. Georgia is also President of the Georgia Chapter of International Association of Home Staging Professionals (IAHSP®), which was recently awarded ‘International Chapter of the Year.’

In this ‘buyer’s market’ of Real Estate, the last two vacant houses she staged, sold in less than 2 weeks. She not only can furnish vacant houses, but also works with homeowners to prepare the houses they are living in for sale. With the ‘fresh eyes’ of a perspective buyer, she looks for the strength’s of each house, and helps the homeowners address anything that would date or detract from the house, or not photograph well.

Coming from the film industry as an Emmy Award winning Director, Georgia has the unique perspective of years of experience in styling homes for photography and national television commercials. Her list of National Clients includes Maytag, Tide, Cadillac, Simmons, Georgia Pacific, Gold Bond Ultimate Lotion, Selsun Blue, Coty, and Belk. In her film projects she designs the art direction; including location shooting, sets, props and wardrobe, and is also responsible for the final look of each spot.

Georgia has always worked in professions that require an acute critical eye. Whether it is a 30 second commercial or the 30 seconds it takes to fall in love with a house, she believes everything that is being sold must look great and make the buyer feel good about what they desire and need. Georgia loves creating a warm, welcoming environment that buyers desire to call their own, transforming a house into a home.

Audra Dial, a partner in Kilpatrick Townsend’s nationally recognized Patent Litigation Team, balances a demanding legal career in which she has obtained favorable verdicts in high-profile intellectual property disputes with active involvement in community and firm leadership roles.  She focuses her practice on litigating patent disputes, protecting trade secrets, and enforcing restrictive employment covenants.

This year  Audra has been recognized as a 2011 POW! Award winner by Womenetics and a 2011 IMPACT Leader by Business to Business magazine.  She was also named a 2010 “Up and Comer” by the Atlanta Business Chronicle. Among her community efforts, Audra serves as President, Junior League of Atlanta (2010 – 2011), as Secretary (2011) and Board Member (since 2007) Special Olympics of Georgia, served on the Board of Trees Atlanta (2010-2011), and served on the Board of Atlanta Children’s Shelter (2010).

2.  Don’t be afraid to go outside your comfort zone.  When you go beyond what you think you can do, you can be more creative and develop innovative solutions to problems.

3.  Appreciate the diversity around you and use that understanding to build a strong team working together toward a common goal.

Donut Try This At Home…

June 21, 2011 by angishields

Scene: A break-room in a corporate office. It’s early, and employees are just starting to trickle in to begin their busy workday. Suddenly, a shrill, high-pitched shriek cuts through the early morning hustle and bustle…

Janice from Accounting: What’s the matter? I heard a little girl scream…

Jack: Ummmm… that was me.

Janice from Accounting: You?

Jack: Somebody brought a big box of donuts.

Janice from Accounting: So?

Jack: There’re still warm. See?

Janice from Accounting: How many have you touched?

Jack: Ummm… how many did you see me touch?

Janice from Accounting: What’s the big deal with donuts?

Jack: Think about it: they’re nothing more than refined sugar and flour, artificial flavors and partially hydrogenated oil that’s loaded with trans fats. There’s no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Janice from Accounting: They make me happy!

Jack: They’re evil… and this appears to be a job… FOR THE AMAZING DIETER-MAN!

Janice from Accounting: You can’t change clothes in the break-room, Jack!

Jack: No time to argue right now! I need to… crap! I thought I was wearing my Amazing Dieter-Man pants underneath my slacks…

Janice from Accounting: What are you supposed to be anyway?

Jack:

I’ll tell you, Janice from Accounting!

Dieter-Man, Dieter-Man
Eats whatever’s on his dieter plan.
Prepares a meal, real low-cal.
He is really losing it, pal.
Cook Out!
Here comes the Dieter-Man.

Is he committed?
It’s no jive.
He’s got radioactive drive.
Can he jog on the road?
He’s in super-exercise mode.
Hey, there
There goes the Dieter-Man.

During the course of the day,
He shows grit and determination.
He avoids the buffet.
He can fight off any temptation.

Dieter-Man, Dieter-Man
Hungry neighborhood Dieter-Man.
Cake and pie,
He’s ignored.
Losses are his great reward.

He leaves food on his plate, boss.
Whenever there’s a weight loss,
You’ll find the Dieter-Man.

Stupid Skinny Intern: Why’s that guy standing on the table? What’s wrong with him?

Janice from Accounting: I don’t know where to start…

Stupid Skinny Intern: Donuts? Cool!

As fitness events get crazier and muddier than ever we had on our good friend Jeff Graves explains why the Mudathlon may be the dirtiest mud, obstacles and beer oriented fitness event ever. We love the idea of having fun while doing a physical activity – you’re exercising but you think you’re playing so you don’t mind doing it. Absolutely love that concept. If you have the same mindset you will love the whole Mudathlon series.

Jeff said that over the summer there will be a mudathlon in Indianapolis, Chicago, Cincinnati and Cleveland – check the website for dates and exact locations. Every event and course is unique to terrain of that location. These events are crazy in that lets do that again way. He’s got massive monkey bars, cargo nets, watered down hills, lots of tunnels and tires to navigate through and around and of course lots of mud. You can do this event by yourself or even better put a team together and make it a company outing.

People really get into this event – Jeff says the race is PG-13 and the parking lot could get into the R area. You will get muddy and you will have a good time. Three tips for running a mud event like the Mudathlon from Jeff were…

  1. Duct tape your shoes on if you want the have them at the end of the race
  2. Wear old clothes that you don’t mind throwing away – bring a complete change of clothes in your car
  3. Weight lifting gloves  (an old pair) are great to have on the course – especially on the slick climbing obstacles

We had to beg and plead but Roni Noone has agreed to share some of her recipes with us. Here’s her delicious whole multi-grain pancake recipe from her GreenLiteBites book and blog. The recipe uses rolled oats, skim milk, whole wheat flour and a bunch of other stuff you’ll have to listen to to write down. But this is a flexible recipe that works just as well as waffle batter as it does pancake batter.
