Yes, the show title is an intentional play on which came first the chicken or the egg. Today’s guests answer with an emphatic “Yes!” David Wright’s Get a Job: Your Guide to Making Successful Career Moves emerged out of his own job search experiences. Then when his book was published, David leveraged what he learned in marketing his book to attain top position in Google and other search engines into a career helping businesses do the same. David is President and Chief Marketing Officer of W 3 Group, an Atlanta-based marketing and SEO company. Cindy Light came to the United States 13 years ago from mainland China. She knew no one and did not understand any English. Today Cindy is a highly sought after consultant on understanding Chinese culture and engaging effectively in business with China based companies. Cindy is the CEO of Culturally Speaking US-China. She has begun writing a book on Chinese culture in general and the Chinese business culture in particular. The book will help companies to practice greater cultural awareness when engaged in business with Chinese companies and corporations.

We opened the show with a big shout out to Karen @lyleswife who had a question about kettlebells. Then Dr Fitness shared these jet ski tips.

Make sure the speedometer works before you take off
Check the electrical tape around the jet ski
Don’t run out of gas
Carry your phone and a credit card in a plastic bag with you

After the guest we discussed our favorite chips. And Dr Fitness finished the show with a story about the merits of barefoot running

Our guest today was Jeff Graves who explained to us why the Mudathlon may be the dirtiest mud, obstacle and beer focused fitness event ever. This mucked up summer fitness event series will be starting June 25 in Indianapolis then going to Chicago, Cincinnati and Cleveland.

Mary Frances Hansen is originally from Little Rock, Arkansas and moved to Dallas 35 years ago. In her late 50s Mary Frances went to work for Princess Cruises where she met her husband, Richard Barry who is a headlining entertainer on Cruise Ships. Having been an RN, including 7 years as an ICU nurse, she has been professionally serving others for most of her adult life. Mary Frances has a heart for volunteering (she is a professional volunteer) and spent many years working closely with the Alzheimer’s Association. Upon discovering the Ms. Texas Senior America Pageant she saw it as and excellent platform to spread the word on Alzheimer’s awareness, she entered and won the competition, becoming Ms. Texas Sr. America 1997. Mary Frances has been the Director and Pageant Coordinator for Ms. Texas Senior America since its resurrection in 2005.

Pat Housel grew up in Iowa and spent her high school years in Germany as her father was in the Army. When they returned to the states,her father was stationed at Fort Hood and her family settled in Dallas. Pat worked for Bank of America as a project manager and learned about the Ms. Texas Senior America pageant in 2006. Pat won the 2006 pageant and was asked to join the pageant’s board of directors after completing her reign. Her project management skills are an asset to the pageant and Pat has been the Pageant Coordinator since 2006.

After being diagnosed with prostate cancer and meeting Dr. Nikhil Shah, Founder and President of the Men’s Health and Wellness Center, Joe became the Director of Men’s Health in 2009. For many years cranberry juice has been used as a natural remedy for bladder infections. Now their is talk that cranberry juice can help with ulcers. The initial research looks promising – but we will need to see more to say for sure that it works. But since it is tasty and might help – why not give ti a try if you suffer from an ulcer. Just watch the amount you drink because cranberry juice does pack in the calories.

Caryn Ewald

Caryn Ewald has been an Executive Search Research Consultant since the early 1990’s. Her past experience has been in recruiting and outsourcing. Prior to founding Executive Mining, Inc., in 1999, she executed research and search strategies for a well-known international search firm. Her business background includes more than 20 years in staffing and executive search.

As the President/Director of Research Of Executive Mining, Caryn Ewald has provided executive recruitment research services to both corporations and executive search firms. She is involved in overseeing all aspects of research assignments from conducting the original research to identify potential candidates, participating in search committee meetings, and interacting with clients and candidates throughout the search process. Her clients range from small boutique firms to large firms.

She co-founded the Alpha Omega Group, a professional area network group for executives, with the mission to advance and mentor executives in transition.

Ms. Ewald completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree at West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV. She is a member of the Atlanta Executive Search Roundtable and actively involved as a volunteer in the Hispanic community.

Frank Palma

Mr. Palma has been one of the leading practitioners in the field of executive search for more than 25 years. “Career Makers” has recognized him as one of North America’s top 200 executive recruiters several times. During his corporate career Mr. Palma held key Human Resources positions with RCA, American Broadcasting Company and Sun Chemical Company. Prior to his own enterprise, he was a Vice President and General Manager with Goodrich & Sherwood Associates in New Jersey, and a Principal with Martin Bauman Associates in New York City. Mr. Palma has successfully completed over 500 key searches within a variety of different industries and functional disciplines.

Mr. Palma holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the City College of New York and has completed graduate studies at both Cornell and New York Universities. He is an author and guest lecturer, has appeared on national television to include a feature presentation on ESPN. Additionally, he has been quoted in Newsweek and featured in articles in the New York Times, Newark Star Ledger other major publications. Mr. Palma has served on several Boards of Directors to include Stonepath Group, Inc., The Brooklyn Sports Foundation and North Jersey Country Club. He is an avid golfer and a member of The Smoke Rise Club, The Park Avenue Club, and both North Jersey and St. Ives Country Clubs. Mr. Palma is also an off-ice Official for the ECHL and covers the Gwinnett Gladiators at the Gwinnett arena, and is a patron of the High Museum in Atlanta, GA.
