How about marinating your meat before grilling in order to grill a little safer this summer. Marinating meat cuts about 60% of the dangerous HCA which is produced when grilling at high temperatures. Use a red wine based marinade rather than one that has high fructose. Turn the meat often to prevent burning. And cook with the skin on the meat but remove it before you eat your meal. And grill more vegetables – so you don’t have to worry about HCA at all. We know you’re going to fire up the grill this summer so just be a little safer okay – we can’t afford to lose any listeners.

People take their refrigerator for granted. It is quietly doing its job, minding its own business. But danger could be lurking behind those stainless steel doors.  Is your fridge the right temperature. It better be 40 degrees or colder in there. Do you ever check? Probably not enough. Do you regularly clean out all the spoiled and spilled food and rinks in your refrigerator? You should be cause guess where germs and bacteria like to live – that’s right in spoiled and spilled food and rinks – so get in there and clean up all that mess. And while you’re cleaning up that sticky mess why don’t you take the time and toss all the unhealthy food that’s in there as weell and replace it with some healthy food.

Tracey Mallet came on and told us about her new exercise dvds that she has put out including The Booty Barre. She mixes together ballet, kick boxing and the hippest music. Tracey shared how she dealth with migraine headaches and how that adding balance to her life helped her slow down.

Dr Fitness and her Tracey debated the merits of body weight exercises and how lunges may be the most functional exercise. Tracey just turned 40 (hard to believe) and she says she has to really challenge her body now when she works out. She doesn’t like to run because she feels compassion for her joints

She also updated us on some of the travel she has been doing including her recent trip to England where they couldn’t recognize her British accent. She is still cranking out the dvds, appearing on TV and she has a new workout certification for fitness trainers that she is rolling out all around the world.

Everyone loves spinach – from Popeye to Dr Fitness. No one debates how healthy it is but some people aren’t crazy about the taste. Here is a salad recipe that even the most picky spinach eater will eat. In a big bowl throw in baby spinach, with chopped avocado, and red bell peppers. Olives work well here if you like them along with onions. If you feel adventurous make some homemade croutons by baking some bread and crumbling it in the salad. Use a nice vinegarette dressing and you are good to go.

Summer’s here so let the grilling begin. Here is a refreshing lemon chicken recipe that is great for the barbeque. Mix up some lemon juice with honey, olive oil and some spices. Rub some of that dressing on your 4 6 oz chicken breasts. Grill them up. Then you can make a cole slaw with some cabbage and even use the remaining dressing on that as well.
