A game changing shift is occurring in how we view the ownership of real estate. June Slusser, President and owner of Coldwell Banker High Country Realty has embarked on a passionate journey to shift the buying and selling experience in a place she describes as “the corner of America where Mayberry meets Aspen”.

In a place where 95% of real estate purchases are optional and industry and corporate relocations are few and far between, why is the real estate recovery in a region located at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, just 90 minutes from Atlanta, ahead of the trend line unfolding in most metropolitan areas?

June knows firsthand that a fundamental yearning for real and meaningful connections with people, community and the outdoors is what is driving this remarkable trend.

June Slusser is the president and owner of Coldwell Banker High Country Realty, the leading multi office real estate firm serving the resort real estate markets of a 7 county area located in North Georgia, Western North Carolina and Southeastern Tennessee.

June’s real estate career has spanned decades, state and international borders, multiple brands, and more titles on business cards than she can remember. In 2003 June and her husband George uprooted and moved their lives and their future to a small town 90 miles north of Atlanta. Little did she know of the amazing and fulfilling journey ahead.

We opened the show with a heated debate whether the musician Drake was Jewish – he is. Then later we talked about important stuff like keynoting the FitBloggin 11 conference and other things we have going on. We ended on Dr Fitness giving his take on a recent Consumer Reports review of the Top 10 Diets (The Top 3 were Jenny Craig, Slimfast and Weight Watchers). But guess who funded the study that Consumer Reports relied on – Jenny Craig – and they came out on top – probably just a coincidence.

We then interviewed Biggest Loser Season 10 Winner Patrick House. He seemed like a great guy. He is doing amazing work in South Carolina with his Mindstream Academy which is helping overweight kids battle obesity. He also shared some behind the scenes of the Biggest Loser – he talked about how Bob and Jillian behaved when the cameras were turned off. He also mentioned that his wife lost 60 pounds when Patrick was off doing the show in order to support him better when he came home. He lost almost 200 pounds on the show and has recently run the Boston Marathon. His motivation for winning the show were to lose weight, be a better role model to his kids and he needed the money because he was unemployed.

Ryane and Marshall compressedKathryn Marshall began working with children early in her career and realized very quickly the link between child development and the rehabilitation of seniors recovering from neurological ailments. After her daughter experienced an injury as the result of an electrical shock, she discovered that her complications were more neurological than physical and began to pursue Brain Gym for her rehabilitation. Today, Kathryn enjoys helping seniors improve their motor skills and recover from injuries, such as strokes, through Brain Gym exercises. Kathryn can be reached at www.katmarshall.com or by calling 214-226-3700.

Colin Ryane was exploring the human mind at Hofstra University when his path diverted to studying yoga. After injuring both arms and having them cured through a chiropractor, Colin decided to delve into Eastern medicine further. He has been teaching QiGong for over 10 years now and enjoys helping seniors improve their health by restoring balance in their lives. Colin can be reached through his website at www.happyqi.com or at 214-233-5738.

There is a study that just came out that is trying to connect weight in kids to having their tonsils removed. The connection seems non-existent to us but you know these researchers have a lot of time on their hands. They have connected an increase in weight to kids who have had their tonsils removed that kids in their study who didn’t have their tonsils removed didn’t experience. Since only half a million kids get their tonsils removed each year – what explains the weight gain in the millions of other kids?

We think the childhood obesity epidemic is tied to lifestyle issues like children not moving enough and kids eating too much.

Did you know that about 500,000 get liposuction each year.  I know I thought that number was lower than I expected also. As everyone knows liposuction removes fat from one area of your body – your waist, your thighs, etc. What everyone doesn’t know about lipo, according to a recent study, is that the fat when it is removed from one area in your body comes back to a different area of your body after the procedure. You body defends the fat – it doesn’t want it to really go away – but it is okay with it moving to different location. So if you get liposuction on your love handles don’t be surprised a few months later if you start seeing fat appear on your upper back.

Is your navel novel? Probably not. Do you have an innie or an outie? Most people have an innie. Do you clean your belly button when you shower? A nice rinse with warm water form time to time helps keep it clean. Is your belly button pierced? Remember, germs like to hang out in moist dark places so you have to be extra careful to keep it clean.
