What is that you say? Twenty buck for an exercise dvd series that is suspiciously similar to the P90X workout and a fraction of the price. Try it for yourself and see. This exercise video series is produced by Cal Pozo, is hosted by Tom Holland and thenutrition plan is by Tosca Reno. So how bad can it be.
We interviewed John Dull and Michelle Collier the brains behind the Supreme 90 Day exercise video system. This is a workout that is great for beginners and will challenge the most fit professional athlete as well. You do this workout 6 days a week. You use a different dvd each day – so you never get bored. You mix up the workouts to confuse your muscles so they respond better.
They say their Workout system is more intense and less expensive than the P90X exercise dvd package. We’re talking just $20 for the complete set of dvds and nutrition plan – so check it out on their website or buy it in stores everywhere. If you want to get into bikini body shape then give this a try. All you need is a stability ball, some hand weights and twenty bucks – how can you go wrong? Take the Supreme 90 Day Challenge!
Snow peas are pretty healthy and they are so easy to prepare you should be adding this vegetable to your weekly list of vegetables to eat. I bet you don’t even have that list – you should. In a pan with some olive oil saute some snow peas with lemon zest, your favorite spices, some chopped onion, parsley and some sesame seeds. It doesn’t get easier than that. Some people like their snow peas crunchy and some people like them a little softer. We don’t judge here – as long as you eat them all.
Steaming chicken is new to me but Dr Fitness seems to like it.For this recipe you’ll need 3 1/2 pounds of chicken, some vinegar, sweet sherry, lemon juice, sake, ginger root, garlic, scallions, sesame seeds.
In a steamer throw in your chicken. Now when you fill your pot with water throw in your sake and steam that chicken for at least an hour – maybe as long as 90 minutes. Bring it to a boil then reduce the heat to a simmer for the rest of the time. In a sauce pan throw in all the other ingredients to make a sauce. When it’s all done pour the sauce over the chicken and serve.

Try this natural cure for snoring. Sleep on your side. This works especially well for thinner people. When you sleep on your back you are more likely to cause the breathing problem that causes snoring so make the move to sleeping on your side to see if this helps you snore less. It doesn’t matter which side you sleep on either – left or right side worked equally as well.

Publishing a book can attract ideal clients and today’s guest has done just that. Find out how organizing expert and consultant Jessica D. Chapman has used her book, “The Entrepreneurial Itch: A Practical Guide to Launching or Refining Your Business” to expand her business niche. Feedback from readers of her book has caused her to launch a new program and workbook, “9 Minutes to an Organized Office.” She coaches small business owners to grow their business and roll over any speed bumps to growth.
Your feet hit the ground in perfect rhythm with the music. Your once-sore knees and ankles somehow move faster than you thought possible. There’s no question that running with the perfect set of tunes can make you feel like you’re performing better, but is there an actual science behind that feeling?
Many researchers are saying yes.
Evidence from a Brunel University study suggests that music can “improve the ‘feeling states’ of exercisers, helping them to derive much greater pleasure from the task.” And who doesn’t need a bit more pleasure when they’re running?
Beyond just feeling great, the study also suggests that the right music can help you perform better. It can enhance an athlete’s endurance by 15% and can also provide motivation by helping to “block out the little voice in your brain telling you its time to quit.”
But, as you might have guessed, not all songs will work the same way. It’s all about the tempo.
As you might imagine, fast paced, high energy songs can be the most helpful for runners. These songs help you kick it into high gear by serving as the ultimate pace-setter. Your body naturally moves to the rhythm of the music, and which will help you maintain or improve your endurance and speed.
High tempo songs aren’t the only ones that are good for working out. Slow-to-medium paced songs are helpful as well. These songs are a key ingredient to a more productive warmup and cooldown period. Coupled with powerful lyrics, medium paced songs are also ideal for a person lifting weights.
While finding a great tempo and effective lyrics can literally move you, working out with music won’t be quite perfect until you go back to the basics: find songs that speak to you. In other words, listen to songs that you like or find interesting. A song, artist, or genre that doesn’t inspire you will do little to help your performance. While Kanye West’s “Stronger” may be considered the “best workout song ever” (according to Gold’sGym), you may find more success with “DogDaysareOver” by Florence and the Machine.
What’s playing on the gym radio or on the treadmill TV doesn’t matter when you can build your own playlist, customized for your pace with your hand-picked songs, and no commercials. Who can beat you when you’ve got a team of hard-hitting, inspiring teammates in your iPod?
And if a decrease in pain and an increase in performance aren’t enough, there’s an unexpected benefactor in all of this: your brain. The part of your brain that processes music, the frontal lobe, is also associated with higher mental functioning, planning the future, and thinking abstract thoughts. When you exercise with the right music, your frontal lobe is working out too.
According to ABCNews, “this bit of mental stimulation works for the brain like exercise works for the body. The more you do it, the more those muscles — including the ones between the ears — stay in tune and function more efficiently.”
It’s time to makeyourplaylist, lace up your sneakers, turn up the volume, and have the best workout for both your mind and your body.
Matt Venables and Julie Herman are amateur runners and founders of jog.fm, the premier workout music recommendation engine. The website suggests music and playlists with a tempo that is perfectly suited to your exercise pace. But Matt and Julie see jog.fm as far more than just music recommendations. It is a motivational tool aimed at getting the average person off the couch and working out.

Anthony Meier, MPT, is the Center Manager for the Decatur Irvin Select Physical Therapy clinic in Decatur, Georgia. He received his Master of Science in Physical Therapy from University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1999, and his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio in 1993. After his undergraduate work, Anthony took a job in product planning and inventory control. After a number of years, he realized that this job wasn’t where he wanted to spend his career. After completing his graduate work, Anthony took a position at Select Physical Therapy. After 12 years, I think it’s safe to say Anthony has found his calling. Having hosted many radio shows, Meredith Moore is no stranger to the studio. Meredith’s primary business is Moore & Associates, an Atlanta-based Wealth Management firm. She tells us the firm specializes in coordinating the work of the many advisors, insurance agents, accountants, etc. that are often involved in managing an individual’s financial affairs. She also specializes in exit strategies for small business owners. Today, Meredith had a different topic on her mind. She is also a board member of an Atlanta non-profit called Kate’s Club. This organization empowers children and teens facing life after the death of a parent or sibling. By creating friendships with kids and young adults that share the experience, Kate’s Club guides children through their grief journey in a comfortable, safe, and uplifting setting.
Kate’s Club has a unique event coming up to help raise money to support it’s efforts. The event is a 2k and 10k race in Grant Park on May 21 at 8:15AM. The name of the event is GeneRacetion, and is a joint effort with Senior Citizens Services of Atlanta. This event will bring together both young and old in an effort to spotlight the need for guidance for these children that have been impacted by the tragic loss of a parent or sibling. If you would like more information, or would like to register for this event, either as a participant or a sponsor, call Meredith at 770-587-0281, or visit the event website at www.generacetion.org.
