On this edition of Inspiration At Work, filmaker Chris White opens a window into his journey of becoming a film maker. What I love most about this interview is Chris’ willingness to be vulnerable and transparent through and through… from the enlistment of his backers to the actual making of the film, always true to his values, which translates into always Inspiring.

For anyone who has a heart felt desire to pursuit their dream but feels stuck, this is a fantastic interview that could serve as a catalyst for you taking the first step. By the way, this is the second interview we’ve done on Inspiration At Work where someone has successfully used crowd-funding to capitalize their venture.

Another very resonate message within Chris White’s interview is his approach to enlisting his backers. He talks about how he created 300 personal video messages that resulted in over 100 people investing into his new film project, Taken In. Listen in. You’ll be glad you did.

Coconut water products are popping up everywhere these days. Dr Fitness experienced fresh coconut water after a long run in Mexico – a guy took a chilled coconut out of a barrel and with a machete cut it open and Dr Fitness drank the water straight from the coconut. The Fat Guy is from Miami so he too is no stranger to the delicious tasting coconut water. Now is it really good for you – that is the question. Good news – it really is healthy. It is high in potassium so it is a good fluid replacement drink. Now is it worth the high price you pay for it – that is another question that only your wallet can answer.

Laurel lives and breathes all things marketing: market plan development, research, brand identity, messaging, interactive and web media, public relations, customer relationship development, direct marketing campaigns, social media and database and loyalty marketing (just to name a few).

Laurel’s experience stems from the corporate world.  Her career there spanned a wide range of cross-functional roles, not only in the realm of marketing, but also in the areas of sales and business development.  Yet, her true passion came forth during her time as Marketing Director for Speedpass Network, a venture of Exxon Mobil Corporation.  Her creative juices flowed freely as she led teams to create Speedpass’ brand and messaging platform, comprehensive communication plan and its website.

Earlier, Laurel’s roots were formed in the area of database marketing and customer relationship as she developed and sold unique customer loyalty programs for Mobil Oil’s U.S. retail outlets.  Laurel also had a successful career as a Sales Manager and Officer at NationsBank (now Bank of America).

Originally from Virginia, Laurel has an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and an undergraduate business degree from Georgetown University.

Italian sausage is a spicy treat great once in a while – I’d avoid it for daily consumption. Dr Fitness goes with the soy sausage. But he’s weird that way. After you’ve grilled up your sausage put it aside for a bit. Now grill up some veggies like tomatoes, and onions – they cook quickly – so watch them. Now make your salad with spinach and all your favorite salad ingredients then toss in the cut up sausage and those grilled veggies and eat up.

Whole wheat pasta is a fast and easy ingredient in a bunch of meals. You can then throw in a variety of other healthy ingredients to make a quick meal the whole family will eat. Today we talk about grilled zucchini with garlic, walnuts and raisins. First cook up the pasta and put it to the side. Cook up some thinly sliced zucchini with some garlic. Then add the walnuts and raisins. Then when all that is cooked serve it with the pasta.

Getting ready for prom is one of those important milestones for girls around the country. On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy had on Karen Jashinsky, who told us all about her unique  Prom Fitness program that she hopes becomes a catalyst for a lifetime of fitness.

Many girls look to pop culture and the media to get their answers and information as they prepare for their prom. A recent study showed that girls spend at least 2 hours a day on Facebook are more likely to have an eating disorder. Karen tries to help girls eat and exercise properly and understand that different body types can expect different results. She also wants tween girls to have the self confidence to deal with the body image challenges at come their way and not be as self-conscious about their bodies.

She has found that girls like more private online coaches and that a lot of them are intimidated by group classes. Boys on the other hand like to be hands on – using equipment.

Her program is lifestylew based with no crash diets or detox programs. She wants her members to learn their body type, what dress will look best on them learn proper nutrition and exercise techiques and get discounts, try sample classes and interact online.

When it comes to losing weight sometimes it is the little that mean the most. Here are four small changes that are pretty easy to make that could lead to big results when it comes to your weight loss.

  1. Eat a handful of seeds, nuts and berries each day as a snack. The Fat Guy starts his day with a handful of walnuts, almonds and dried berries for breakfast.
  2. Swap. For each meal swap some grains for more vegetables. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing. Just swap a little a bit at first.
  3. Add color. Add colorful vegetables to each meal. Red and orange peppers are great with everything from eggs to salads.
  4. Spice things up. Try new spices to add different flavor to your usual meals.
