BRX Pro Tip: How to Be a Good BRX Guest Transcript

Stone Payton: [00:00:01] Welcome back to BRX Pro Tips. Stone Payton, Lee Kantor here with you. Lee, let’s talk a little bit about how to fully leverage the opportunity, how to be a good Business RadioX guest.

Lee Kantor: [00:00:13] Yeah, I think it’s important if you’re a guest on one of our shows that you listen to some old episodes, so you get a feel for the rhythm of the show and you understand kind of the mechanics of the host and how they kind of run the show. But it’s important to just relax. In our platform and our system, everything, we’re here to support and celebrate your work. So, we’re not going to be asking you some humiliating questions. So, you don’t have to have your guard up and be ready for a, you know, soundbite answer. You should come with stories.

Lee Kantor: [00:00:42] So, the more stories you have of success stories or stories that illustrate kind of the key differentiators about your business, that’s important to have kind of be ready for things like that. But ultimately, you want to let your passion shine. You want to be kind of energetic. You want to be kind of high energy and smiling and feel like the—if you’re smiling in the interview, the audience kind of can feel that as well. And you should tell the world that, “Hey, I’m going to be on this show. You should tune and listen.” And then, after the interview is over, make sure that you tell the world, “Hey, I was on this show and here’s where you can listen.”

Stone Payton: [00:01:18] So, I have one ninja-level tip for you, if you’re willing to do it, if you’re willing to be vulnerable, come equipped with at least one, I don’t know. That is find something that you really don’t know or you want to know more about. See if you can work that and let us know if you need help working it in. Let the listening audience out there, let your ecosystem know there’s something you’ve got a question about. You know, “I’ll tell you what I don’t know, Lee, is this. And if there’s anybody listening that has an idea on it, I’d love to hear from them.” That is so endearing and it allows you to connect with your audience. So, consider coming to the interview with at least one, I don’t know.

Lee Kantor: [00:01:56] Be authentic and good stuff will happen.

BRX Pro Tip: Minimum Viable Market Transcript

Stone Payton: [00:00:02] And we are back with BRX Pro Tips. Lee Kantor, Stone Payton here with you. Lee, a lot to think about as you’re getting a studio launched or as a client, if you’re getting a show launched. One of the things that we like to focus some energy on is identifying, thinking through what you call minimum viable market. Speak to that a little bit.

Lee Kantor: [00:00:23] Sure. You know, Seth Godin, super fan, and this is a phrase that he’s been using lately, and I think it pre-dates Seth by a thought leader, too, but he has definitely been harping on this in terms of the media, that the media should focus in on the minimum viable market, where the keyword is viable, that there’s enough people out there that care about the work that you’re doing, that you can make something work. And that’s something that you should be thinking about if you’re going to open a studio in a market.

Lee Kantor: [00:00:54] What is the minimum number of people you need to influence to make this kind of a difference? And then, focus less on the demographics of the people and more in the psychographics that these are the people that believe what you believe, that these are the people that want to share the positive business stories in the community. And a lot of the times, these people are going to be in the professional services, they’re going to be challenger brands, and they’re going to be a part of an under-served business community.

Lee Kantor: [00:01:20] So, identify, are there enough of them for me to pull this off, to have a show? Are there going to be enough guests for me to have on the show? And the way you do that is kind of just be clear on who you’re trying to reach and see if there’s enough of them. You don’t need that many in professional services to make a studio go, but you do need kind of a certain amount of people who believe that this is important work and they want to financially support it. So, keep an eye out on the minimum viable market in your community.
