BRX Pro Tip: Partnering with Other Media Transcript

Stone Payton: [00:00:01] And we are back with Business RadioX Pro Tip. Stone Payton and Lee Kantor here with you. Lee, let’s talk about this idea of supporting and celebrating, actually, partnering with other media in your community.

Lee Kantor: [00:00:13] Right. This is something that you shouldn’t be afraid to partner with what some people might can consider competitors. Other podcasters, newspapers, blogs, radio stations, TV stations, magazines, newspapers, all those people are out there. You can look at them, on one hand, as competitors because you’re kind of vying for maybe some of the same advertising dollar, but they’re really not because they’re all doing something a little different, and you’re doing something in a way that none of them are doing the work that you do. So, I say invite them on a show. Bring on a podcaster, a business blogger, a magazine, or a newspaper, and let them talk about their work. Bring in a columnist, or an editor, or somebody like that and give them a chance to tell their story. Maybe they have a conference. Maybe they’re working on an event that you can partner up with.

Stone Payton: [00:01:05] Well, and look at the positioning that that provides for you when you are the person, you are the gracious person that has brought them into your house. You’re supporting, and celebrating them, and giving them that platform. As I’ve said for years, Lee, serve your competitors, and you won’t have any.

What Our Guests & Hosts Are Saying …

I was a bit skeptical at first, so I asked for a guarantee. I wanted at least a return of investment. I took a leap of faith and gave it a try with the podcast game plan. We sat down and put together a 1-year strategy of who all my guests would be and what the shows would be about. I basically got to target and handpick my future customers, and it worked.
I landed my biggest client that now gives me half my income.
Hosting my own show gave me the foot in the door to so many business opportunities. I can now cold call companies and speak to presidents, CEOs and Board members within minutes because the gatekeepers send you to the top when you say your “calling from the tech talk show”.  If you follow the plan, You will get results.
~Aaron Maus, Host of Tucson Tech Talk – Aug 2020

“As a successful woman entrepreneur, I need to stay ahead of the game, and the Tucson Business RadioX marketing platform allows me to do that. I look forward each month to hosting my next episode.”
— Karen M. Fisher – Senior Loan Officer, Summit Funding.

“What a dynamic and inspiring individual Mark Bishop is. When we met, he explained how podcasting and Tucson Business RadioX would be a tool to grow my business not just digitally, but with lead generation directly from our chosen guests. This has become a stable part of our monthly lead generation plan.
Our podcast, ‘Ask the Gals,’ has become a 24/7/365 doorway to our social media expertise for interested current, and future, clients. Tucson Business RadioX is a winner for us!”— Jessica Badowski – Owner, Too Busy Gals

“I am thrilled with my business results from Tucson Business RadioX. Mark is a thorough professional and is constantly working with me to be my best. I love the feedback from all the new acquaintances I am making and, especially, the new business I am enjoying for my Farmers’ Agency. Thank you Mark!“

— Jamie Overturf – Owner and Agent, Farmer’s Insurance: Jamie Overturf Agency

Sarah-McCrarenBioshot“Tucson Business RadioX has been the perfect platform to shine a bright light on all the good business being done here in Southern Arizona. Our monthly podcast, ‘Conscious Capitalism; Elevating Humanity through Business in Southern AZ,’ focuses on business as a force for good. We do this through discussions with leaders from the local business ecosystem on how their organizations add value to the community while generating a profit. Thanks to Mark, and his Tucson Business RadioX media platform, for helping us to promote good business!”
—Sarah McCraren & Jeremy Neis, Conscious Capitalism Southern AZ

Stephanie Rising“I launched my ‘Small Biz, Big Voices’ podcast with Tucson Business RadioX six months ago. It gives me an opportunity to deepen my relationships with my clients, who are often guests. It also increases my value to them as a resource, since they receive positive exposure for being on the show. If you are considering ways to expand your marketing presence, I recommend Mark’s podcasting program as something that establishes your credibility, expertise, and presence in your industry.”
— Stephanie Rising – Business Coach, Author, Public Speaker – Owner, The Rising Effect

The Tucson Metro Chamber features special guests from all areas of business on their show, “News from the Chamber,” hosted by President & CEO Amber Smith and Vice President Michael Guymon. “This is a fantastic way to introduce new business to Tucson!”

— Amber Smith – President & CEO and Michael Guymon – Vice President, Tucson Metro Chamber of Commerce

CHUCK ZAEPFEL“My experience with Mark Bishop and ‘Tucson Means Business’ was different than other shows and interviews I have done. There wasn’t a formula script that was old and tired. This had a fresh and honest exchange of ideas, information and quality engagement throughout the episode. Mark doesn’t ambush his guests, but rather, he created an environment where I was able to share and discuss issues that the listener would care about. I found myself to be better engaged, and that translated wonderfully to the podcast. Thank you, Mark, for being an inspirational interviewer!”
— Chuck Zaepfel – Southern District Director, Junior Achievement of Arizona

These guys had a lot of fun on the “Sports Special” of “Tucson Means Business” with Mark Bishop on Tucson Business RadioX. What they have done for Tucson’s economy with sport is amazing! (From left)

BRX Pro Tip: Don’t Neglect Power Partners Transcript

Stone Payton: [00:00:01] And we are back with Business RadioX Pro Tips. Lee Kantor and Stone Payton here with you. Today, Lee, let’s talk about power partners and, specifically, don’t neglect power partners.

Lee Kantor: [00:00:13] Right. This is another area that we have a huge advantage over other business people in the market. We can be the friend to so many business groups and business associations in your community by inviting them on, by giving them a place to tell the story about their mission and their work. You are going to be networking at kind of a networking-on-steroids manner because each one of these business associations have members and have sponsors that can also be sponsors of your shows and studio.

Lee Kantor: [00:00:46] So, the more business associations and business groups you can meet and get them on the show, let them come on. After the show is over, go, “You know what? Your business group is awesome. I really want to support the work that you do. Why don’t you come back in on the show on a regular rhythm?” Maybe offer it every six months, maybe quarterly where they just come on your house show, and maybe they bring in one of their leaders, and talk about the work they’re doing. And then if that works out, maybe you expand it and offer them a series if you find that they’re really good partner and that you can really work well together.

Lee Kantor: [00:01:20] But this is an area that is underserved, and they appreciate the attention. And don’t be afraid to invite on a lot of these niche business groups. There is a business group for every underserved group out there. There’s women business groups. There’s veteran business group. There’s gay business groups, Hispanic, black. Every Asian, every community has a business group that serves their niche. You should be a friend to all of them.

BRX Pro Tip: Why Should Someone Be a Guest on the BRX Network Transcript

Stone Payton: [00:00:01] And we are back with BRX Pro Tips. Lee Kantor and Stone Payton here with you. Lee, what’s in it for the guest? Why would someone — why should someone be a guest on the Business RadioX network?

Lee Kantor: [00:00:15] To me, this a no brainer. Anybody asked to be a guest should be a guest most of the time on any network, really. If you have a chance to tell your story to anybody, you should probably take advantage of it, unless you have so many clients and so much business that you really don’t care. But some of the reasons to be a guest are you’re going to get to create content that is in your own words with your own voice. It’s going to be authentic. It’s going to be powerful. You’ll be able to repurpose this content on a million different platforms and a million different ways. You’re not going to get a chance to do this in traditional media where they’re going to force you into a sound bite or a talking point. You’re going to have a long forum to tell the whole story. It’s going to be very conversational, be easy to do. All you have to do is kind of answer the questions that you answer every day. So, it’s an easy experience, it doesn’t require a lot of preparation, and it’s very powerful content that you can use in a variety of medium.
