Jessica BadowskiJessica Badowski is the owner and founder of Tucson based Too Busy Gals. Too Busy Gals was established in 2008 in Ohio and moved to Arizona in 2011. It was established as a business to the business service provider after multiple requests for assistance with social media, branding, and marketing from peer business owners. After 20+ years in non-profit management and anti-poverty social work, Jessica decided to break out and start her own business. In 2008, it became quickly apparent the need for high-quality education and coaching social media services were exploding. After 3 years working with national partners in marketing and social media, Too Busy Gals began developing its own roster of clients. Current clientele ranges from a local manufacturing company, land developer, Moroccan artisan e-commerce business, to NYT Bestselling author, and non-profit serving breast cancer survivors.

Too Busy Gals is very active in the local Tucson business community. Currently, Legacy Partners of Local First Arizona, strategic partners with Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Marana Chamber of Commerce, and Vail Chamber of Commerce. Charity and volunteer work has been a passion of Jessica’s and is a central part of Too Busy Gals business model. Currently, Too Busy Gals is part of 100+Women Who Care Tucson, eWomen Network Foundation sponsor, and partner with Big Hearts, Helping Hands Arizona Secret Santa program.

lisabensonheadshotLisa Benson joined Too Busy Gals in October 2017. Her role is community outreach and connecting local businesses to the training and coaching services Too Busy Gals offers. With a background in event planning, marketing, and advertising research, and extensive marketing experience in networking environments, she ensures Too Busy Gals meets the needs of the Tucson business community. As an active 4-H mom and owner of dogs, birds, rabbits, chickens, pigeons, quail and recently a cat, she is an avid animal enthusiast.

Lisa Benson born in Phoenix, AZ and grew up in the small, farming community of Buckeye, AZ. Both sides of my family worked in farming Cotton, Alfalfa, and cattle, had huge vegetable gardens, lots of chickens and an occasional pig or goat. That would seem a long way from what you do now Lisa? She graduated from the University of Arizona in 1999 with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing.  She and her husband were married in 2000, and you have lots of dogs, a cat, several rabbits, chickens, pigeons, quail, cockatiels, tortoises, and fish! and your daughter raises rabbits, quail, chickens, and pigeons for the Pima County 4H program and competes in shows all over Arizona and the big show is the Pima County Fair in April. I guess you can take the Farm Girl out of Buckeye but not for life or your daughters for that matter,

Lisa likes to keep busy, being recently nominated for the board at the Greater Vail Area Chamber of Commerce and will add that to my busy life of work with Too Busy Gals and volunteering as the Rabbit Coordinator for Pima County 4H and The Club Leader and Rabbit Leader of the Little Rascals 4H club in Vail.

BRX Pro Tip: Why is the Mission Important? Transcript

Stone Payton: [00:00:01] And we are back. Stone Payton and Lee Kantor here with you would BRX Studio Partner Pro Tips. Lee, we often articulate our message, and we will say something to the effect of, “A pro business media outlet,” and we want to have something like that in virtually every community across the country and maybe eventually across the planet. But why is it important for those communities?

Lee Kantor: [00:00:27] I think that every community benefits by having a cheerleader that’s supporting and celebrating their work in the community, especially a media outlet that is focused on that. The benefits to the community are multifaceted. One element of benefit is that the small to mid-sized business owner feels appreciated because a lot of times, they don’t get the attention they deserve. A  lot of times, people don’t know what they do. Even their own family members don’t really understand their business a lot of times. So, when you have somebody there that’s kind of vouching for them and telling their story, that’s an important just goodwill in terms of keeping them motivated to continue doing the hard work and grinding every day.

Lee Kantor: [00:01:09] Another element is for the community itself to kind of showcase some of the good work that’s being done to attract other business people to the community, and other people to come into the community to check out these important businesses because they are doing work that is important. And a lot of times, the only time they get any type of attention is if something bad happens. Like we always say, if a fire or a scandal occurs, then the press will come running. It’s the day-to-day work that they’re doing that doesn’t get appreciated. And we love being the safe place for these business people to tell their stories.

Stone Payton:
Welcome back to BRX Pro Tips. Lee Kantor and Stone Payton here with you. Lee, so often, prospective clients will walk into a conversation with us feeling like they need to do a guru show. They want to increase their authority. They want to increase their perceived expertise. And I think it’s almost an understatement to suggest that it’s counterintuitive to them when we say, “Look, one of the best ways to establish your expertise is to be the host, ask the questions, interview others.” Help us reconcile those two different ideas.

Lee Kantor:
I think the the biggest thing, and this is — again, we see this disconnect all the time. They think, in order to be an expert, they have to have all the answers. And in our model, by being the one with the questions gives them the authority, and it gives them that credential. If you’re hosting a show about what your best prospects do, you have to be the expert because you’re the host of the show. The credential comes with just the activity. If you’re not an expert, how are you qualified to host the show? Every guest thinks you’re an expert because you’re the host of the show. They wouldn’t be part of a show, unless they thought it was valuable to them. And if you’re the host or sponsor of the show, you must be part of that ecosystem, and it’s peer to peer at that point, or even more, you’re almost seen at the higher level than them because you’ve interviewed other people in that area.

Stone Payton:
And this extends well beyond the studio. We’ve experienced it in this market over the last 12 years. We were out in the marketplace. We can actually be in a group of people from virtually any ecosystem, and we’re seen as a peer or, in many cases, even as luminaries and thought leaders in that arena. And I mean, that’s from supply chain to wealth management.

Lee Kantor:
And then being the host of the show, how many hosts have had the opportunity to speak because they were the host of the show in that space?

Stone Payton:
Oh, yeah. That’s one of the tremendous benefits of this. People who really are on a path to increase their perceived expertise and their authority, pne of the things that happens almost 100% of the time is they start getting invited to present at conferences and-

Lee Kantor:
Or emcee events.

Stone Payton:
Or emcee events, yeah.

Lee Kantor:
And then, just an aside, with me, with Dr. Fitness and the Fat Guy, after me, I was the regular. I wasn’t even the expert on the show. I was the regular person on the show. I was asked by a publisher for Dr. Fitness and the Fat Guy to publish a book about how to raise healthy active kids. So, I don’t even have any credentials in wellness other than being the sidekick on the show. And then, I was asked to be part of a book.

Stone Payton:
I know you and I are bias, and we see everything through this Business RadioX lens. But for me, the return on investment is more than enough for that one thing alone that increases your perceived expertise and your authority in the marketplace.
