Matchagi

Cal Supik was born in Atlanta, GA and grew up playing sports, hanging out with friends and taking apart electronics in his free time (normal stuff, you know?). Being young and energetic, there was never a need for external supplements to retain the energy needed to make it through a typical day. While in college, Cal had to learn how to balance the load of school, a part time job and NCAA athletics all while trying to maintain a social life. There was never enough time in the day, or Red Bull in one can, to make it through all that was needed to get done. After college, school was replaced with a full time career, the part time job was replaced with entrepreneurial endeavors and college athletics was replaced with a passion for working out. The need for focus, energy and motivation was more apparent than ever. The existing options to attain the focus and energy needed tended to be too potent (giving jitters and crashes), too expensive, or just straight up unhealthy. Once he was introduced to matcha, he fell in love, and wanted the world to experience matcha the way he had. The main issue was that there was no easily accessible and detailed information about the tea. Current products were also either too expensive or too low quality. From these needs, Matchagi was born!

Arya Suprayogi brings a variety of life experiences into Matchagi. He has worked in the restaurant industry as a server and bartender to pay for college while studying to be an industrial engineer. His passion for health and sports, mixed with his love for music, are all being brought together by his entrepreneurial desire to paint ideas onto a blank canvas. In the past, Arya relied heavily on a lot of the caffeine products such as energy drinks, pre-workout, and coffee to fuel the day in order to fulfill his passions and activities. However, the excess amounts of caffeine would later become counter productive due to anxiety problems and inconsistent energy (high energy followed by a hard crash) that a lot of the above energy products bring. Arya experimented with matcha with the desire of wanting to find a natural solution to sustain energy throughout the day without the drawbacks that he previously experienced. Not long after that, matcha became his ‘go to’ because of the many positive benefits that come with it. It has been 7 years since matcha has become a part of his daily routine. He is so excited to share everything that matcha has to offer and Matchagi has become his platform to educate and facilitate matcha followers to embark on their own matcha journey!

Rob Frohwein and Kathryn Petralia with Kabbage

Kabbage

On this CEO Exclusive we talk with Rob Frohwein and Kathryn Petralia with Kabbage, a technology company that connects small businesses with capital.

Kabbage is a technology company that quickly connects small businesses with capital. Our technology platform reviews data generated by dozens of business operations to automatically understand business performance and deliver fast, flexible funding entirely online.

In 2008, Rob Frohwein recognized that companies like eBay offered automated access to small business transaction data via APIs. Rob realized small businesses could simply share this data to allow underwriters to make better, faster credit decisions and provide a great user experience. He co-founded Kabbage in Atlanta, Georgia, to leverage the power of real-time data automation through technology.

Before founding Kabbage, Rob advised, established and/or led several successful businesses, including LAVA Group, U.S. Micro Corporation (acquired by Arrow Electronics) and Surgical Biologics (acquired by MiMedx). Additionally, he led business development and legal for ZapMedia and Security First Network Bank (SFNB), the first online bank. Prior to SFNB, Rob practiced corporate and intellectual property law with Troutman Sanders LLP. He is the listed inventor on seven U.S. patents, is a co-author of three books on intellectual property and has been recognized four times as one of the top 300 intellectual property strategists globally by Intellectual Asset Magazine.

As Kabbage expands and continues to support more small businesses, Rob ensures the company maintains great conviction to its vision, as well as a unique culture and considerable laughter quotient.

Technology has played a role in Kathryn Petralia’s life since her parents gave her a TRS-80 computer at age nine. When CEO Rob Frohwein shared his idea for Kabbage with Kathryn, she immediately saw the value in using technology to reexamine lending. They founded Kabbage to automate funding decisions based on real-time data access rather than a lengthy, manual process. Before co-founding Kabbage, Kathryn spent nearly 15 years working with large and small companies focused on credit, payments and e-commerce.

An English major (and Kabbage’s resident grammar expert), Kathryn returned to her interest in technology to launch a number of successful startups. As someone who camped her way down the west coast to launch an e-commerce startup in the mid-90s, Kathryn can appreciate the lengths to which small businesses have gone to access capital.  She also served as Vice President of Strategy for Revolution Money, an Internet-based credit card startup, and was a corporate development executive with CompuCredit Corporation, where she was responsible for entering new markets, developing products and establishing strategic alliances.

Josh Grubaugh

WOB Host and Owner
Poppy Yard Solutions

https://www.facebook.com/poppyyards
https://www.instagram.com/poppyyards/

Josh Grubaugh is a Tucson native with 12 years of experience in the agriculture industry. His passion for the game of golf and the desire to spend as much time as possible on the course led to the start of his career. In 2006, Josh began working at Oro Valley Country Club. There, he acquired the basics of landscape and turf management. He also earned his Arizona Pesticide Applicator license. He quickly realized that not only did he have a knack for keeping vegetation alive in Arizona heat, he was also really loving the work that went into it!

Just a year into this career path, Josh took full advantage of an opportunity to help build the Golf Club at Dove Mountain, former home of the PGA Tour’s WGC Accenture Match-Play Championship. This amazing 6-year experience gave him the drive to advance on to The Views Golf Club at Oro Valley, where he became the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. This was a game changer for Josh as his growing passion for and knowledge of turfgrass management further solidified that this was his calling.

With his skills and experience, Josh advanced onward to Tucson Country Club as the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. Within two years he accepted the position of Golf Course Superintendent at Forty Niner Country Club. Shortly after joining the Forty Niner family, Josh and Brandy married and within a year were proud parents of their first child, Tripp Joshua Grubaugh. Things were getting real!

Josh had a very successful tenure at Forty Niner Country Club. His extensive knowledge and attention to detail allowed him to complete many in-depth landscape and irrigation projects, which improved the operation of the course. Some have even said he brought it back from the dead! Josh will tell you, he is only as good as his team. His hard work, respect for others and willingness to think outside of the box were, and continue to be, essential to his success. In early 2018, Josh knew there was something bigger for him and his growing family. With the support and encouragement of his wife, Brandy, he decided to take his knowledge, skills, and passion in another direction. This led to the launch of Poppy Yard Solutions. The company was named after his daughter, Poppy Louise.
