His desire to perform began at a very early age. When working for Colonial Williamsburg, he gained his first exposure to entertaining live audiences through dance, music, and juggling. Continuing with his passion for juggling, Julian began competing and was a four-time finalist and International Silver Medalist Juggler. He has performed for a wide range of different clients including dinner theaters, school and library shows, civic and fraternal organizations, restaurants, resorts, fairs, and festivals. It takes dedication and determination, along with a great passion for performing to “juggle” a career in the arts, while working hard to earn college degrees. Yet, that is exactly what Julian set his sights on accomplishing. He earned a B.S. from William and Mary, an M.S. in Veterinary Medicine from VA/MD – College of Veterinary Medicine, and a Doctorate from MSU College of Veterinary Medicine.

| Melody Pittman Melody has danced since a young age and has spent numerous hours in studios preparing for appearances with performance or competitive teams. She has performed at the Washington, D.C. Cherry Blossom Festival, Opryland, and on ESPN’s 2 Minute Drill and Wide World of Sports. In college, she was Captain of the Raider Rhythms Danceline, performed in many musicals including Anything Goes, Cabaret, Crazy for You, Guys and Dolls, Man of La Mancha and The Will Rogers Follies, and danced professionally as a Lady Barracuda Dancer for the Barracudas Arena Football Team. Also, she was honored to have performed in Miami, New Orleans, and Houston with the Swerve Modern Dance Company. Along with her professional performances, Melody was drawn to a career of teaching and coaching dance in the public education arena. She holds an A.S. in Dance Technology; an A.A. in Dance Performance; a B.A. in Communication Arts, Anthropology, and Musical Theater Dance; an M.E.D. in Curriculum and Instruction, and an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership. Additionally, she has earned multiple state certifications in academic areas, as well as athletic coaching and dance. In 2009 she was honored with the Cox Communications and Bravo Network Champion of Arts in Education award, and in 2012 she was named her school’s Teacher of the Year.

Past careers include high school teacher, zoo educator, PBS membership manager, and theatre administration. Volunteering in local theatre since 1996 (over 80 productions). Pensacola native, but lived in Alabama, Germany, Arizona, Georgia, and south Florida before resettling here. Two adult children. Married to Doug Holsworth, band director at Escambia HS. Jim is also the founder and President of Creative Data Concepts Limited, Inc., a well-known Web services provider that has been located in Pensacola, Florida since 1998.
Jim served as President of the Gulf Breeze Area Chamber of Commerce in 2003 and 2004 and has served as an active member of its Board of Directors. He has chaired the Chamber’s Governmental Affairs Committee and hosted its monthly television show. Jim has also served as president of Santa Rosa County Crimestoppers, Inc. from 2002 through 2009.

Dr. Donovan C. Chau is director of strategy and engagement at the
University of West Florida’s Center for Research and Economic Opportunity. He also serves as executive director of Innovation Coast, an alliance of technology and knowledge-based companies and
organizations in Northwest Florida.
Dr. Chau was appointed Associate Director of the UWF Office of Economic Development and Engagement in 2014. His career began a decade earlier in Washington, DC, where he was a professional staff member
for the Select Committee on Homeland in the U.S. House of Representatives. During this time, he helped the Committee gain permanency and worked on border and transportation issues.
Upon leaving Congress, Dr. Chau was a subject matter expert for AMTI, a defense and homeland security contractor which was subsequently purchased by SAIC. Dr. Chau was the Africa desk officer, focusing on terrorist threats in and emanating from the continent of Africa. He
provided research, analysis, and policy support to defense and homeland security contracts at the federal, state, and local levels.
In 2007, Dr. Chau entered academia as an assistant professor of political science, later promoted to associate, at California State University, San Bernardino. His teaching and research specialized on
international politics in East Asia and Africa as well as national and international security. Dr. Chau has published multiple books, journal articles, monographs, book chapters, and book reviews.
Between 1996 and 2005, Dr. Chau earned a B.A. in literature/government from Claremont McKenna College, an M.S. in defense and strategic studies from Missouri State University, and a Ph.D. in politics and international relations from the University of Reading, United Kingdom.

He is a co-inventor of a reusable learning object-based instructional design system that is patent-pending and has been licensed for commercialization, and is also co-inventor for another patent-pending location based services technology application under commercial license called Next Exit History.
He is actively engaged in research and development activities including fully immersive learning environment-based curriculum models through examples like the National Flight Academy aboard NAS Pensacola and scaling that model for dissemination throughout the country. Another area of focus is the delivery of learning programs through mobile technologies and was a principal developer for a very early implementation of this model through a DoD project. He also consults with organizations on issues related to technology and learning and has published articles and book chapters in these areas.

Founded after Hurricane Ivan, Women’s Business Lunch (WBL) was organized by Kathleen Shoop, Natasha Parvey, and Kolleen Edwards Chesley to provide a venue for women in business to come and share ideas, information, networking contacts, etc to help each other be more successful in business.
In the Fall of 2013, the WBL reorganized and took on the name “Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast” and are a recognized not-for-profit organization.
Meeting information — Like clockwork, we meet for PWGC-Pensacola always on the 1st Friday of every month, always from 11:30-1:00pm, always at theGulf Coast Kid’s House on 12th Avenue. We also have PWGC-Gulf Breeze, always on the 3rd Friday of every month, always from 11:30-1:00pm, always at the Hampton Inn and Suites, Gulf Breeze. There is no charge to attend our meetings. They are WOMEN ONLY events, so feel free to grab a couple of girlfriends to bring with you and help share the WBL experience.
