ATLANTA, GA–(Marketwired – November 13, 2015) – On October 21, 2015, Cobb Business Radio welcomed to the studio Gillian Greer with the Vinings Historic Preservation Society. Host Lenise Williams sat down with Greer to learn more about Vinings and its place in Atlanta history.
Gillian Greer serves as the Executive Director for the Vinings Historic Preservation Society (VHPS) whose mission is to maintain and preserve The Yarbrough House, The Old Pavilion, and The Pace House and educate the public on the history of the area. The town of Vinings is located in Cobb County alongside the Chattahoochee River and ten miles northwest of Downtown Atlanta. Originally home to many ferry stations along the river in the 1800’s, Vinings is home to rich history that helped build Atlanta and Cobb.
The Solomon and Penelopy Pace House was built with the remains of the 17-room antebellum home of Vinings founder Hardy Pace. Today, The Pace House plays host to weddings and other celebrations. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.
The Old Pavilion was originally built as an open-air structure in 1874 by the Western & Atlantic Railroad. In 1995, it was moved to the grounds of The Pace House where it is used for community events, weddings, receptions and parties.
The third property protected by the VHPS is The Yarbrough House, built in 1880 and inhabited by the Pace family for over a century. Over the years, it operated as a tea house and restaurant. Presently, the VHPS has undertaken the mission of restoring the building to its original historical floor plan and outfitting it with original 1880s period furniture.
To learn more about Greer’s role in maintaining historic Vinings, listen to the entire interview on Cobb Business Radio.

ATLANTA, GA–(Marketwired – November 13, 2015) – On November 1, 2015, Midtown Business Radio welcomed to the studio Marie Hunter with KRG Oil Company. NOWaccount CFO Archie Jones introduced Hunter to host CW Hall who spoke with her about being a female entrepreneur and disrupting the industry.
Marie Hunter is the Owner and President of KRG Oil Company, a family and female owned fuel and petroleum products business. The company has positioned itself to serve the needs of small to mid-sized clients that require quantities of fuel and petroleum products that are below what larger fuel companies are willing or able to fulfill. KRG services a variety of customers including general contractors, tree companies, landscapers, trucking companies, grinding/grading companies, recycling companies, hospitals, hotels and many more.
Hunter started KRG with her father, who himself had spent numerous years in the fuel business, after she was laid off from a previous job. “KRG Oil was started because we felt that the fueling industry was missing good, old fashioned customer service,” said Hunter. “Our corporate philosophy is to treat all of our customers with professionalism and respect, no matter how big or small the client company.”
As an entrepreneur, Hunter and her team want the success of this business to be used as a platform to encourage others to “think outside of the box” and to give back to the community.
