Jane Fonda founded the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention in 1995 to combat Georgia’s number 1 ranking of the highest teen pregnancy rate. With the help of their organization Georgia now ranks 10th. Jane and Michele discuss the social, economic and financial aspects of their non-profit. Not only do they serve young girls who may have their first child as young as 10 years old, but they save the State of Georgia $224 million per year by doing so. Many non-profit organizations have felt the strong impact of the economic downturn, however, they create a positive “GDP†for Georgia in the work they do. Listen to our passionate conversation as Jane and Michele explain how childhood pregnancy is an economic and financial issue impacting the poorest demographic and how GCAPP achieves this positive impact on the state’s economy and to their clients.
GCAPP is preparing for their year-end RED CARPET fundraiser event on October 26th at IKEA in Atlanta (6:00 PM) – Jane and Michele hope to see you there.
