On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy had on James Park from FitBit. FitBit is a small and stylish health and wellbeing monitoring tool. It’s like a pedometer on steroids – and I mean that in that best way possible. It automatically collects data about your daily activities literally 24/7. You see it has a single 3-axis accelerometer similar to the Nintendo Wii. So whenever you move it records the movement pretty accurately. Plus you can press a button on the FitBit and check your progress whenever you want. It then wirelessly syncs the data to your computer. And then you can share your data on Facebook or Twitter. I have been using it for about a month and it is amazing how sedentary I am some days – sometimes I take only 3-4000 steps in a day. My record day has been around 14,000 steps. It really makes you aware that you have to make an effort to go for a walk or exercise. Even when I walk this 5k loop in my neighborhood that only is about 6000 steps – so I still have to do more in order to hit 10,000 steps. Fitbit (with their premium service) is your 24 hour digital personal trainer, nutritionist and sleep consultant. Learn more about this great accountability tool and purchase yours at www.fitbit.com – be patient they might be backordered but they are worth the wait.
