Sharon Cook/Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta
Sharon Cook oversees the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta’s external affairs including, Corporate Communications, Marketing, and Government Relations functions. In her role, Cook directs Marketing and Brand Cultivation, External Communications, Internal Communications, Media Relations, Investor Relations, Reputational Risk, and Government and Industry Relations for the regional banker’s bank.
Cook joined FHLBank Atlanta in 2008 as Senior Marketing Communications Manager and earned promotions to Vice President and Director of Corporate Communications in 2011; First Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer in 2015; and assumed her current role as Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer in 2020.
As an active volunteer in the community, Cook serves on the board of directors for the Partnership Against Domestic Violence; is a mentor for the WomenLead program at Georgia State University; is on the Georgia Bankers Association Women in Banking Committee; and has served on the Georgia Leadership Council Board for the Arthritis Foundation, chaired the marketing and publicity committee for the 25th Annual Hearts with Hope Gala, and co-chaired the Jingle Bell 5K Run in Atlanta.
Cook is a frequent speaker and thought leader on reputation risk management, including crisis communications specializing in cybersecurity response planning. She speaks to audiences about important considerations when preparing a crisis plan such as a crisis team, community relationships, and social and traditional media presence. She also speaks frequently at women in finance events on issues important to women in leadership, as well as issues facing emerging leaders. Cook is well-regarded throughout the banking industry for her strategic communications and marketing expertise. She delivers her presentations with warmth, wit, and candor and is frequently invited to speak at banking trade association meetings and other industry events.
Cook earned a Bachelor of Arts and Science in Mass Communications and Marketing from Georgia State University, and a Master of Business Administration in Organizational Leadership.
