BRX Pro Tip: How Do You Build an Audience
Stone Payton: [00:00:02] Welcome back to BRX Pro Tips. Stone Payton and Lee Kantor here with you. Lee, every new podcaster, everyone thinking about doing podcasting, many of the people who are considering being clients of Business RadioX as a sponsor or a host, they all want to know, how do you build audience?
Lee Kantor: [00:00:25] We build it from the guests outward. What we do is we tell every sponsor here when we are selling a show that the audience starts at zero. And together, we’re going to build an audience by creating good content and inviting good guests. And that’s what we do.
Lee Kantor: [00:00:44] So, at first, the audience is just, usually, the network of the sponsor and are the studio’s ability to kind of share it to their kind of fan base. But then, over time, what happens is the guest starts sharing it. The power partners that you are starting to work with, the associations, and the business groups that you’re starting to work with, when they come on, they share it to their members and their people. The influencers that you start inviting on start sharing it to their network. And then, over time, you start building an audience.
Lee Kantor: [00:01:17] And the beauty of this audience is that it’s pure in the sense that the people who are listening are the people that are the ones that care, and you’re impacting the people that you want to impact, and you’re doing work that matters for the people that matter to you.
Stone Payton: [00:01:31] So, an audience that is built the way you’re describing, that’s a very different caliber of audience than just going out and shouting from the rooftops, “Hey, we got this thing going on 2:00 every Wednesday.” When you build it brick by brick on the reputation and the success of your guests and their network, it’s a completely different quality of audience, isn’t it?
Lee Kantor: [00:01:55] Absolutely.
