Standing Ovation Presentations

How to Raise Your Communication Game

“Anyone who’s in business is in show business. You’re on the stage of your industry… you must be able to convey the message of whatever you’re selling in such a way that prospective customers will find it interesting and have complete confidence in you delivering it.”  Tommy Schweiger

In this highly interactive presentation, Robyn will introduce you to the neuroscience of communication; share her creatively entertaining concept of ActorTypes and give you practical, actionable tips and techniques so you can shine whether you are leading a meeting, making a sale; interviewing, pitching or presenting.

You will learn:

  • How to exude confidence and presence through body-language and vocal tone
  • How to identify your own unique communication style (your ActorType*) and learn to let it work for you.
  • Tips on how to shape and organize a compelling and persuasive message to maximize engagement

* (ActorTypes, is Robyn’s proprietary concept from her book Standing Ovation Presentations (Motivational Press, 2013) They are based on 9 character types you see every day in movies and on TV; the Hero, Villain, Super Hero, Ingenue, Sex Symbol, Comic, Whiz Kid, Buddy & Curmudgeon)

Dr. Julian Pittman

Julian strives to make the audience believe the impossible is truly possible. His creativity keeps the show fresh and ensures that performances are cutting edge. His desire to perform began at a very early age. When working for Colonial Williamsburg, he gained his first exposure to entertaining live audiences through dance, music, and juggling. Continuing with his passion for juggling, Julian began competing and was a four-time finalist and International Silver Medalist Juggler. He has performed for a wide range of different clients including dinner theaters, school and library shows, civic and fraternal organizations, restaurants, resorts, fairs, and festivals. It takes dedication and determination, along with a great passion for performing to “juggle” a career in the arts, while working hard to earn college degrees. Yet, that is exactly what Julian set his sights on accomplishing. He earned a B.S. from William and Mary, an M.S. in Veterinary Medicine from VA/MD – College of Veterinary Medicine, and a Doctorate from MSU College of Veterinary Medicine.

Melody Pittman

Melody has danced since a young age and has spent numerous hours in studios preparing for appearances with performance or competitive teams. She has performed at the Washington, D.C. Cherry Blossom Festival, Opryland, and on ESPN’s 2 Minute Drill and Wide World of Sports. In college, she was Captain of the Raider Rhythms Danceline, performed in many musicals including Anything Goes, Cabaret, Crazy for You, Guys and Dolls, Man of La Mancha and The Will Rogers Follies, and danced professionally as a Lady Barracuda Dancer for the Barracudas Arena Football Team. Also, she was honored to have performed in Miami, New Orleans, and Houston with the Swerve Modern Dance Company. Along with her professional performances, Melody was drawn to a career of teaching and coaching dance in the public education arena. She holds an A.S. in Dance Technology; an A.A. in Dance Performance; a B.A. in Communication Arts, Anthropology, and Musical Theater Dance; an M.E.D. in Curriculum and Instruction, and an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership. Additionally, she has earned multiple state certifications in academic areas, as well as athletic coaching and dance. In 2009 she was honored with the Cox Communications and Bravo Network Champion of Arts in Education award, and in 2012 she was named her school’s Teacher of the Year.
